To be honest, the concept of money for blogs is a mystery to me and I cannot help thinking the whole thing must be a scam.
Why would the writings of a totally ordinary person be worth any form of payment? What would the person or organization making the payment gain from it?
I am 54 and have met a few famous people in my time, but the fact remains I am not in any way famous myself. Just an ordinary guy; and so I cannot imagine being able to genuinely earn money for anything I wrote.

First off you have to have something interesting that draws a big crowd. Secondly you need to bring that crowd to a paying website. The website gets more hits and therefore makes more money. So they pay you a bit of it.

Well I have to disagree with a couple of the answers to you – you can make money, very legitimately, with a blog or blogs – IF you provide real value to your readers/potential customers.
How do I know? Blogs are my only source of income
